Oikocredit is pleased to announce that Paola González from Programa Alumbra - Fundación Banco Macro is the winner of the Oikocredit Argentina Innovative Loan Officer award. The award was presented at the 11th annual summit on microfinance: The role of microfinance in financial inclusion held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 29 August.

The winner received a ticket to participate in the 20th FOROMIC (http://www.fomin-events.com/foromic/2017/web/index-en.php) also being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina  ̶  from 30 October to 1 November 2017. FOROMIC is one of the leading networking events on financial inclusion in the Americas.

The Oikocredit Argentina award acknowledges the key role played by the microfinance institution loan officer who maintains daily contact with clients. Applicants were asked to submit innovative proposals to improve the lives of their clients.

Paola lives in the San Salvador de Jujuy province in north-west Argentina. “My vision as Alumbra loan officer is to develop products which aim to enhance women’s entrepreneurial drive and reward their hard work. In the two years working with this institution, I have felt connected and worked closely with female clients who have been exposed to the extremes of social vulnerability.” Her proposal focuses on developing new loan products tailored to women’s needs, such as loans for single mothers, professional women, women in specific sectors, etc.

Oikocredit Argentina launched its operations in 2005. Since then, it has financed several financial institutions, agricultural cooperatives and health and education providers.
